Firstly, I chose a simple design and then drew it directly onto my lino. I used two tools: the first being a finer 'v' shaped tool which enabled me to go around the edges of the design. I then used the larger 'v' shaped tool to carve away the remaining part of the lino which was not needed for the print.

I used a hot water bottle filled with boiling water to place under the lino as I was carving as this makes it extra soft and very easy to carve.
As seen above , I used blue and yellow Speedball ink. Firstly I added and mixed these colours on a plate and then made sure that the roller had a good, but not too thick covering which was ready to ink up my design.
I just used copy paper and  to place over the design that had been 'inked' with the roller. I then just used my hand to create pressure and to make sure that I would obtain the print that I wanted. I noticed that I had made a mistake in my carving so the last three images I touched up by hand.
Had I used an oil based ink I could have created several copies and the latter lighter ones could be used as a background for another print.
