We launched our new space with the "Winter Dreaming" at the Colac Showgrounds and invited the community to help plan its future usage on 11 August 2023. Our vision to invite our community to visit and celebrate and to share their winter dreams with us.....What can we do in our creative spaces?
Wild Honey Performing Arts led the dreaming with a new work created especially for our launch with the support of the Australian Government's Regional Arts Fund, which supports the arts in regional and remote Australia. The workshops with the children for this performance were supported by Vichealth Jumpstart Arts funding which was auspiced by Creative Otways Inc.
We held a procession and display of over 200 lanterns that came from our community workshops and networking with local schools and there were over 120 artworks created for the Art in a Jar and for Art on Show exhibitions.
Many dreams and burdens were written and shared in the dreaming performance . In order to set new intentions for the space and arts dreams were placed on a community workshop wall.
The drop-in workshops by Ange Jeffrey and Fingle Sin were well attended while demonstrating artists were kept busy in conversation.
We had several youth performers early in the evening presenting pieces of music then the Angus Duo entertained us with their music.
This project was made possible by the Australian Government's Regional Arts Fund, which supports the arts in regional and remote Australia.
