Colac Makers' Space Small Grants Scheme Pilot Round

Supporting Creative Ideas from Our Makers Space Community
We’re excited to launch a one‑off pilot round of our Small Grant Scheme. This small trial will help us understand what works best for our Makers Space community before we open the scheme more broadly.

Individuals may apply for $100
Groups may apply for up to $500

The application process is intentionally simple and friendly — we want this to feel accessible to everyone in our community.

This pilot will help us:
  • test the application process
  • understand the types of ideas our community is excited about
  • refine the scheme before the full launch
We can’t wait to see what you dream up.

Who Can Apply
Current members of the Makers Space
Individuals or collaborative groups
Any artform, discipline, or creative experiment is welcome
Whether you’re testing an idea, developing a new skill, or creating something to share with others, we’d love to hear about it.

What We’re Looking For
We’re not judging polish — we’re looking for spark. Projects that align well with the scheme usually show:
  • Creativity - Fresh, imaginative, or engaging ideas.
  • Community Resonance - A connection to, or benefit for, our Makers Space community.
  • Achievability - A realistic plan within the timeframe and budget.
  • Inclusivity & Joy - Warmth, openness, and a spirit of celebration.

How to Apply
Complete the short application form. Tell us about your idea, what excites you, and how it connects with our community.
Choose the practical support you need. Submit your form using the link below.
You can apply at any time — the selection committee meets periodically to review submissions.

How Applications Are Assessed
A small volunteer selection committee reviews applications using a light‑touch, values‑based approach. They consider:
  • Creativity - we are looking for ideas that are imaginative, engaging or exciting
  • Community resonance - we are looking for ideas that have a strong, meaningful community impact
  • Achievability - we are looking for ideas that are very achievable and practical needs clearly identified
  • Inclusivity and joy - we are looking for ideas that strongly reflect warmth, inclusivity and joy

We aim to support a diverse mix of projects across artforms and experience levels.
The Colac Makers' Space is primarily an art space that offers our community a place to create their own work. We also run creative drop‑in sessions, affordable workshops, talks, and exhibitions for artists and makers of all experience levels — from complete beginners to established practitioners. We warmly welcome new members who want to learn, experiment, and connect with others in a supportive creative environment.
