How to Use the Spaces

Welcome to Your Creative Home Base
This is your place to make, explore, experiment, and grow. As a member, you have 24/7 access to both spaces — simply check the calendar for any private bookings before you visit.

What You Can Do in the Spaces
Both locations are set up for creative work, collaboration, and workshops. You’re welcome to:
  • Work on your own projects
  • Host workshops or skill‑sharing sessions
  • Meet with other makers
  • Use the equipment available in each space
  • Settle in for quiet focus or join others for shared making time

Accessing the Spaces
• Members receive a personal entry code for 24/7 access
• Please check the online calendar before visiting
• Some areas of the Makers’ Shed may be unavailable during major events (mid‑October to mid‑November)


Shared Space Etiquette

We keep things simple so everyone can enjoy the space. 
Leave it Lovely

We ask all members to:
• Clean up your workspace before you leave
• Put tools and equipment back where they belong
• Take home personal materials unless stored in your allocated area
• Report any issues or breakages to the committee


Open & Close Routines

Follow the basic steps posted in each space:
• Lights, heaters, and power off
• Doors locked
• Rubbish in the bins
• Windows closed
• Check nothing is left behind


Using Equipment & Materials
• Some equipment requires an induction before use
• Shared materials are for community use — please be considerate
• Bring your own consumables where possible
• If you’re unsure how to use something, ask a committee member or post in the Facebook group

Workshops, Bookings & Proposals
Members are encouraged to run workshops, classes, or creative sessions.
You can:
• Propose a workshop
• Book the space for a private session
• Request support with promotion or setup

The Colac Makers' Space is primarily an art space that offers our community a place to create their own work. We also run creative drop‑in sessions, affordable workshops, talks, and exhibitions for artists and makers of all experience levels — from complete beginners to established practitioners. We warmly welcome new members who want to learn, experiment, and connect with others in a supportive creative environment.​
